Precision Spur Gears

PIC Design manufactures precision metric and inch spur gear sizes for clients in a variety of industries. Our spur gears are used for precision positioning, rotational drives for encoders and other similar light-duty applications for a wide range of industries. Spur gears are the most common type of gears; cylindrical in shape, with teeth on the outside of the cylinder and parallel to the axis. With capabilities for segment and internal spur gear configurations, our high-volume manufacturing expertise enables us to satisfy large and difficult orders to meet your toughest precision and custom spur gear challenges.

Precision Spur Gear Hub Styles:

Pin Hub (G-Series): The hub has a tapped hole and a sub-drill to enable pinning to the shaft.
Split Hub (H-Series): The hub is slotted, requiring a clamp (L1-series) for attachment to the shaft.
Hubless (J-Series): Gears have a standard precision bore for press-fit to a hub or cluster gear.

Spur Gear Applications

Our precision spur gears are used in a variety of industries including, aerospace and military instrumentation, medical and dental, oil and gas exploration, robotics, optical and industrial controls. We can manufacture spur gears to meet the latest AGMA/ISO specifications, up to the equivalent of AGMA Q14 per AGMA 390.03. PIC can support custom spur gears needs for your specific application’s requirements.

We offer an extensive array of standard external spur gears for you to choose from. Our standard gear styles and quality level options are ideal for a variety of products and will meet your project’s parameters and constraints.

Standard spur gear materials options: 303 stainless steel spur gears, 2024 aluminum spur gears, Acetal (Delrin®) spur gears, Bronze Alloy 464 spur gears, and 17-4 PH stainless steel spur gears.

PIC stocks spur gears in metric and inch sizes. If you do not see the size you need in our stock, we’re able to do custom metric and inch spur gears to your specific size requirements.

Custom Spur Gears

PIC offers custom spur gears if you are not able to find the size you need in our stock. We have the capability to produce gears with non-standard pressure angles, pitches, materials and finishes. We can also customize your spur gears with modified bores, sectoring and face- and cross-holes. The following specifications define our standard selection and routine customization options:
