Press Fit Dowel Pins

Press Fit Dowel Pins

Press Fit Dowel Pins

Press fit dowel pins are dowel pins that fit into a hole that is slightly smaller than the pin diameter. This difference in pin and hole diameter is known as the interference. The dowel pin is specially designed based on hole size, tolerance, and ductility. A press fit is used where accuracy of location and close-tolerance alignment is of prime importance.

Slip Fit vs Press Fit Tolerance

Dowel pins with slip fit tolerance easily slide into the mating part without the need for tools. While press fits, or interference fits, create tight assembly tolerances and require tools to press the dowel pin into the mating part.
