Collars & Clamps

PIC Design manufactures clamps which can be used as a load-bearing surface, mechanical stop, or for mounting components. A clamp will slide or wrap around a shaft and is secured by tightening a set screw. Their radial clamping design causes less damage to shafts than set screw collars. PIC offers Adjustable, Split, and Screw type clamps that are available in several styles, with reduced clearance and balancing options for demanding applications.

PIC also offers Set Screw Collars, convenient for locating and retaining components on a shaft.  Set Screw Collars are most effective when used on a shaft made of a material softer than the set screw, as the set screw will press against the shaft to hold the collar's position.  A small recess is located 90° from the set screw as a start for a drill, which can be used to drill through the collar and shaft in order to install a pin for a more secure fit.
